Does your dog often pee on your carpet? Pet urine will stain your carpet and provide a favorable environment for bacteria to grow. Given below are three easy methods to rid your carpets of pet urine using household items. Read on.
Club Soda Method
Sprinkle some club soda on dog urine area. Now, dab the area with a sponge where club soda was poured. Make sure to dab the area rather than rub the area since rubbing will cause the urine to go deeper into the carpet. Use a paper towel for dabbing the area.
Vinegar and Baking Soda Method
Make a solution by using equal amount of white vinegar and water. Vinegar is a natural cleaner and works well when it comes to treating pet urine. Spray or pour the solution into the target area. Now, wait for at least 15 minutes to allow the vinegar solution to soak.
Use a paper towel or sponge for dab up the solution. Now, hang on for a couple of minutes to let it dry.
Once the solution is dry, sprinkle the area with a small amount of baking soda. Baking soda is a great household solution when it comes to absorbing urine. Use a toothbrush to rub out the urine in fibers of the carpet. Let it stay put for around 15 minutes.
Remove the baking soda by vacuuming the area after 15 minutes. This will remove pet urine completely.
Peroxide and Colorless Dish Soap Method
Mix clear dish soap and hydrogen peroxide to make a solution. Get ½ cup of peroxide and mingle it with a tbsp of clear dish soap. Make sure to get a detergent that is colorless so it doesn't stain light color carpet. Spray the area with the solution and brush it out with a toothbrush. Dab the area with a paper towel. Repeat this cycle however times necessary until you see urine fading away.
You can choose any of these three methods to get rid of urine on your carpets.
